VIRGINIA CHAPTER UPDATE
Joel Schofer, MD, RDMS, FAAEM, FACEP, LCDR, MC, USN
The Virginia Chapter of AAEM has a number of updates to provide on its activities:
1. New Liaison with Virginia ACEP
The VA-AAEM Board of Directors recently voted to establish a liaison position with the Virginia Chapter of ACEP. Dr. Rob Stambaugh will be serving as our liaison. It is our hope that this new relationship will allow us to work together on issues where we share common ground with VA-ACEP.
2. Virginia Medicaid Payments
VA-AAEM continues to work with its members from Chesapeake Emergency Physicians to address triage-level Medicaid payments to Emergency Physicians. VA-AAEM and members from Chesapeake Emergency Physicians have a meeting scheduled with Congressman Randy Forbes on April 29th and are also attempting to schedule another meeting with Delegate Chris Stolle to discuss strategy as we move forward on this issue.
3. CME Event - Dive Into Resuscitation, July 20-21st, Great Wolf Lodge – Williamsburg
VA-AAEM will be holding its first ever CME event at the Great Wolf Lodge in historic Williamsburg, Virginia, on July 20-21st. The educational sessions focusing on the latest resuscitation and critical care topics will run from 8 AM to noon daily, allowing the rest of the day to enjoy the Williamsburg area and indoor water park at Great Wolf.
